Protective Style Update- Washing and Treatment of My Hair In Braids

Having braids or weave or any kind of protective styles does not mean your hair takes a break. It is very important to take care of your hair whilst in protective style.

Today I will be showing you how I do my washing and treatment of my hair in braids. Obviously it's going to be different from the way I wash my hair when it's out.

1.
I started by doing a pre-poo treatment I always do a pre-poo treatment before I wash my hair. This time I used my oil decoction mix I made myself. I left it on my hair for an hour.

2.
I washed my hair with the Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus curl & Shine shampoo. This smells so nice and not only that it left my hair clean but did not strip my hair & scalp of all the moisture. I diluted this shampoo with water in an Applicator Bottle, before applying it on my hair.

3.

After washing I deep Conditioned with the Shea Moisture Organic Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque. I Noticed that it did not absorb into my hair, I was a bit disappointed with that, I left in on for about 45 minutes and rinsed it out thoroughly.

4.

I applied a leave-in conditioner (this is not necessary) to my hair because I just wanted to and then applied my moisturiser I used the Smooth N Shone ........ I had forgotten how good this moisturiser is on my hair. My hair was left so soft I could feel it from the new growth. And last and most importantly I sealed my hair with one and loved Vatika Frosting (coconut oil infused in herbs) it smells delicious oh I LOVE the smell

And that completes my washing and treatment of my hair in protective style. I hope this was helpful to you.

Till Next time
Bisous

Hi Nyla, thanks for the info. One of the major challenges i have with my natural hair is protective styling. In Ghana, many hairstylists do not know how to handle natural hair hair when bariding, they ues a fine tooth comb and other techniques that make the whole natural hair experience terrifying.i have 2 questions for you.

What weave/hair do you use when braiding and how do they blend the diffenrnt texture of your hair and that of the weave?
Also do you blow out your hair before you braid?

@AfroDiva i agree with you a lot of stylist do not know how to handle natural hair and because of that a lot of us suffer from the stress they put our hair and causing us to have breakage.

For braiding i always use expressions they are really good one pack is enough for the whole head because of the way i seperate the hair and braid it. I have a video coming up soon on how i braid my hair. i will keep you posted

For weaves i always do full weaves because my hair cannot blend with the weaves i use. I usually use brazillian or indian hair, so i prefer doing full weave to avoid straightening my hair.
lastly no i do not blow dry my hair before braiding its unnecessary really , but its up to the individual and what works with their hair. i don't do it. What i do is i try stretching my hair by threading my hair or doing braids on hair before braiding with extensions.
I hope this helps
