Health- Effective Way to Combat a cold

Hi Beauties

Today i will be talking about different ways to combat a cold which is a very popular virus during this winter season. A day before New Year i came down with a cold, it was really annoying because i could not enjoy the New Year's celebration with my friends and family. I have writen the steps i took to combat this cold virus, i hope it helps anyone suffering from a cold right now.

Cold is a common Virus that produces runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, headaches and cough. Though symptoms are usually mild and gone within a week, colds produce rampant absenteeism from work and school.

When you come down with a cold, your respiratory tract works hard to expel the invading viruses along a veritable “Slip ’n Slide” of mucus. It's always better to accelerate the healing process by thinning them, thus making it easier to expel them.

So what helps in fighting this Virus?

The most effective way to thin mucus secretions is by adding fluid to your system by drinking warm liquids.
  • Chicken Soup or any soup that is rich in protein; protein helps to repair the body and the iron and zincsupports the immune System.
  • Because you are losing a lot of fluid its good to drink Tea (herbal), Warm water (to prevent dehadration), Orange Juice ( Vitamin C boost the immune system) etc.....
  • Eat Garlic if you can this has anti-Viral effects
  • Treat you stuffy nose with Saline water you can either buy it at the pharmacy or make it at home. For homemade saline water, Mix a pinch of salt and a pinch of bicarbonate of soda in about half a pint of warm water. Use a bulb syringe to squirt water into the nose. Hold one nostril closed by applying light finger pressure while squirting the salt mixture into the other nostril. Let it drain. Do this two or three times a day. This method really helped a lot when i had my Sinus surgery and i had stuffy running nose.
  • For coughs and sore throat; Mix Lemon and Honey and drink it, you will see a huge difference in 24hours.

  • Boil water in a pot add Vicks or Peppermint leaves and Thyme in the hot water and then place your face at a disctance from the steam and cover your head with a towel. Inhale through your nose or mouth this will decongest your nose and chest.

All these teps metioned above will help combat a cold. One more thing to remember is that your body is using so much energy to fight this virus so you will need at least 24hrs rest in bed and also use proper tissue to blow your nose, i like using Kleenex tissues they are very soft . I hope this helps, it helped me a lot during th time i had a cold. If you have a cold right now, i wish you speady recovery.

Till Next time Bisous x

Nyla
